Leslie Allen

Funeral services for Leslie Allen were held Monday, Jan 12, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. at Frankville Community Presbyterian church in Frankville. Rev. James Elvig officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Frankville Cemetery.

Leslie Eugene Allen, son of George and Elsie (Duff) Allen, was born July 14, 1921 near Ossian. He died Friday, Jan. 9, 1987 in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN.

He attended the rural schools near his home then served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. April 15, 1946, he married Ruth Marie Myren at Waukon. They had 6 children. They lived in and around the Frankville area their entire life. Leslie had been employed by the Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative for the past 38 years, retiring in 1984.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, David Jedele, one brother, Leonard Allen and three sisters, Bernice (Mrs. Henry Schweinefus), Blanch (Mrs. George Hougen) and Venita Jerrine (Mrs. Clifford Hughes).

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; three sons, Duane and his wife Barbara, North English, Doyle and his wife, Terrie, Postville and Darwin and his wife, Tammi, San Mateo, CA; three daughters, Sonya and her husband, Robert Jedele, Kalona, Mary and her husband, Fowler, Waukon; 14 grandchildren, and three sisters, June Monroe and Geneva May, both of Waukon and Mabel Vine of Decorah.

He had been a charter member of the VFW in Postville and was a member of the Frankville Presbyterian Church. Casket bearers were Doyle Allen, Darwin Allen, Ronald Draves, William Christofferson, Noel Cook and Charles Martin.
