Services Held For Mrs. Anderson
Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. William Anderson at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia with Rev. L. R. Meinecke officiating.
Mrs. Anderson passed away April 25, after an illness of several months.
Marie Louisa Lubke, daughter of John Lubke and Hannah Hannemann Lubke, was born on February 4, 1875 on a farm near Decorah. She was baptized in her infancy. She attended the country school for her elementary education. In due course of time she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On September 22, 1897 she was united in marriage with Will F. Anderson of Castalia. The young couple set up housekeeping on a farm southwest of Castalia which was to be her home the rest of her life. Mr. Anderson departed on March 30, 1939.
Mrs. Anderson was admitted to the University Hospital at Iowa City on February 22 of this year. Her condition gradually became worse and on April 25 at 2:55 p.m. she passed away.
With her passing, the church and community loses an active pioneer member. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia and of the Ladies Aid organization. The Ladies Aid members attended the funeral in a body.
She leaves to mourn her passing, four children: Earl of Castalia, Leonard and Vernel of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Rubie Taylor of Belmond; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters -- Fred Lubke of Briton, South Dakota; Henry Lubke of Decorah; Othelia Lubke and Mrs. Annie Herwig of Decorah. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Raymond, two brothers, Charles and John and one sister, Ida.
