Dorothy Rosenthal, age 91, of Decorah, IA, died on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Wellington Place Nursing Home, in Decorah, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the First Lutheran Church, 604 West Broadway, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Melissa Bills presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., on Friday at the Church, 604 West Broadway, Decorah, IA, and also after 9:30 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning. Memorials may be made out to First Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice.

Dorothy Helen Rosenthal was born on November 17, 1922, in Decorah, IA, the daughter of Constance “Connie” and Anna (Johnson) Rosenthal. Dorothy lived in Decorah her entire life. She graduated from Decorah Public Schools. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxillary and every year was the leading poppy fund raiser. She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Dorothy enjoyed knitting and embroidery work and was a blue ribbon winner at the Winneshiek County Fair. She will be remembered as a very generous and loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her nieces and nephews: Connie Maslow, Fred Rosenthal, Jo Bowes, Mary Rosenthal, Kris Hansen, Solveig Root, and Einer Hansen; along with all of her loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Connie and Anna (Johnson) Rosenthal; her sister: Kathleen Hansen; and her brothers: Frederick and Robert Rosenthal.
