Clara Sophie Myrah, 97, of Decorah, died Friday, March 24, 1995, at the Aase Haugen Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, at 1:30 p.m., at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen officiating. Organist was Joseph W. Childers. Casket bearers were Chester Finholt, Stanley Arneson, Marvin Anderson, Gary Gavle, Paul Arneson and Charles Finholdt. Burial was at the Hauge Lutheran Cemetery. The French and Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Clara Sophie Finholdt Myrah was born July 18, 1897, on a farm near Sattre, the daughter of Casper and Sigrid (Forde) Finholdt. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. She married Clarence N. Myrah in October of 1936, and they lived in Waterloo for several years.
After Clarence's death in May of 1968, Clara moved back to Decorah in September of 1968. She lived in her Oak St. home until the fall of 1987, when she moved to the Northgate Manor in Waukon. In 1991, she moved to the Eastern Star Home and in February of 1992, she moved into the Aase Haugen Home.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two step-sons, Arnold and Lester; three brothers, Arthur, John and Martin; two sisters, Sarah and Ella; and one grandson, Charles.
Survivors include nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and two daughters-in-law, Irene of Fort Collins, Colo., and Bertha of Sacramento, Calif.
