Douglas Lee Engbretson, 46, of 1332 9th St. NW, Cedar Rapids, died of stomach cancer Monday, August 9, 2004, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, by the Rev. Daniel Krueger. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Survivors include his wife, Shawn; his children, Richard and Erica, both at home; his mother, Dorothy Rockett of Cedar Rapids; his father, Robert Engbretson of Marion; a brother, Steve Engbretson and wife LuAnn of Belle Plaine; three sisters, Cathy Engbretson of Cedar Rapids, Robyn Grapes and husband Rick of Cedar Rapids and Tracy Comstock and husband Pat of Hiawatha; his mother-in-law, Linda Toyne and Mike Burhite of Amana; his father-in-law, David Toyne and wife Nancy of Tujunga, California; and several other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Almeda Barth and Elmer and Eva Engbretson; and several aunts and uncles.

Doug was born July 28, 1958, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Macal) Engbretson in Decorah, Iowa. On June 17, 2000, he married Shawn Toyne. Doug worked for the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha.

A memorial fund has been established for the childrens education fund.
