Eva Engbretson, 91, of Crestview Acres and formerly of Decorah and Hiawatha, died Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the care center following a long illness.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. T. Edwards Breed officiating.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah.

Eva E. Engbretson was born May 18, 1910, the daughter of Lewis and Anna (Johnson) Erickson in Decorah.

She married Elmer Engbretson July 26, 1931 in Decorah. He died Aug. 18, 1977.

Eva Engbretson was a member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah. She and her husband farmed in the Decorah area for many years. They moved to town and Eva Engbretson worked at Decorah High School and Luther College in the food service department. In 1974, they moved to Hiawatha so they could be closer to their family. Eva Engbretson also helped her daughter at the Busy Bee Cafe in Hiawatha. She was a member of the Rebekahs in Decorah and Madison Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret (Virgil) Kellison of Hiawatha; five sons; Eldon (Lois)Thompson of Cedar Rapids; Robert Engbretson of Marion; Kenneth Engbretson of Cedar Rapids; Richard (Sharon) Engbretson of Jesup and Lyle (Beth) Engbretson of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Eva E. Engbretson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Engbretson; her daughter, Helen; two sisters and a granddaughter.

A memorial fun has been established.
