Sharon A. Engbretson, 63, Jesup, and formerly of Decorah, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo. She was born May 13, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Mavis (Trusty) Ryan and at the age of two, she was adopted by Palmer Boe and Agnes (Trusty) Boe. She graduated from Decorah High School, Decorah, with the class of 1962. On June 16, 1962, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Merle Engbretson at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. They have made their home in the Jesup area since 1984. Sharon was a homemaker and also worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant for many years at Friendship Village and Harmony House in Waterloo and also worked in Elder Care in various private homes. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence. Sharon always said her greatest achievement in life was her children and being a grandmother. She enjoyed playing cord organ, collecting bells and clocks. Her two dogs were her companions.

Mrs. Engbretson is survived by her husband, Richard of Jesup; five daughters, Denise (Jake) Spiegel of Jesup, IA, Debra (Dennis) Opperman of Fayette, IA, Donna (Craig) Geltz of Jesup, IA, Dawn (Bob) Gwin of Jesup, IA, Diane Engbretson of Cedar Falls, IA, two sons, Donald Engbretson and Darren Engbretson both of Jesup, IA, nine grandchildren and one sister, Marilyn Knight of Waterloo, IA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. - Monday, March 3, 2008, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence, IA, with Pastor Mark Carr officiating. Georgia Gray will be the organist. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Rick Engbretson, Drew Opperman, Jordan Engbretson, Brandon Clayton, Charles Clayton, III, Ray Knight and Brad Knight. Casket Bearers will be Jake Spiegel, Dennis Opperman, Bob Gwin, Craig Geltz, Charles Clayton, II and Sammy Spann. Burial will be at the Littleton Cemetery, with White Funeral Home of Jesup in charge.
