Mrs. Clara M. Erickson, Decorah housewife, died July 28 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. She was born in Pleasant Township and had lived all her life in Winneshiek County and Decorah, moving here seven years ago.
Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Albert E. Houts Saturday, July 31 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Roger Erickson, Gary Bjerke, Thomas Hovey, Lester Erickson Jr., Eric Hahn and David Rheel. William Kuhlman was organist and accompanied the congregation as they sang hymns. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
Mrs. Erickson is survived by eight sons and daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Violet) Winger of Decorah, Mrs. Howard (Evelyn) Hahn, Los Angeles, Calif., Alice Tollefson, Decorah, Robert Erickson, Marion, Ia., Earl Erickson, Hesper, Ia., Mrs. Clem (Olive) Frye, Lester Erickson and Maurice Erickson, all of Decorah. Other survivors are 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two brothers, Elvin Iverson of Eugene, Ore. and Fred Iverson of Decorah and one sister, Mrs. John Fagerlie of Eugene, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tosten and Olena Hagen Iverson, her husband, Olias Erickson, who died June 9, 1965, and eight brothers and sisters.
As Clara M. Iverson, Mrs. Erickson was born December 3, 1886. She attended rural schools and was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was married at the church parsonage April 24, 1907.
