Clement A. Frye, 78, the Handy Man in Decorah for many years, died Saturday, March 5, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Mr. Frye was a life-long resident of the Decorah area and a locksmith by trade. He had been employed by John Deere in Decorah for 10 years and then owned and operated the Handy Man Shop at 209 East Water Street.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 8 at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church by Pastor Paul H. Christenson. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lester Erickson Jr., Daniel Fadness, Gary Frye, Howard Sande, Gregory Vick and Gerald Young. Mrs. William Kuhlman was organist and accompanied congregational singing. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.
Clement A. Frye was born Sept. 10, 1904 in Winneshiek County to William and Marie (Kirkeby) Frye. He attended Decorah schools and was a member of the Lutheran Church.
He married Olive Irene Erickson at LaCrosse, Wis. in 1936. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Marilyn (Mrs. Ronald Thornton), Minneapolis, Minn., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Frye was preceded in death by his parents, a son and four brothers.
