Funeral services for Mrs. Edwin (Edna) Roed, 63, of R3, Decorah, were held Wednesday, June 23, at 1 p.m. at the Hauge Lutheran Church near Decorah.
Mrs. Roed, a retired bookkeeper in the area, died Sunday, June 19, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital after a lengthly battle with cancer.
Rev. Gerhard Brase conducted the services, with Alan Sensor serving as organist. Burial was at the Hauge Lutheran Cemetery. Sensor-Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Steven, Scott and Randall Sharp, Roger Roed, Daryl Hovden and David Haugen.
Edna Sharp was born April 21, 1920 in Winneshiek County to Walter and Emma (Erickson) Sharp. She graduated in 1938 from Decorah High School and married Edwin Roed on May 28, 1940 at the Locust Parsonage.
She is survived by her step-mother, Nora Sharp; two children, Edward Roed of Washburn, Ia., and Elaine Thompson of Decorah; five grandchildren; two brothers, M. Curtis Sharp and Raymond Sharp, both of Minneapolis; and a sister, Shirley Sharp of Dallas, Tex.
Mrs. Roed lived all her life in Canoe Township in Winneshiek County. She was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church, the LCW, Church Council and the Rebekah Lodge.
