Funeral services for Edwin M. Roed, 74, of rural Decorah, were held Monday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at Hauge Lutheran Church.
Mr. Roed, a retired area farmer, died Friday, July 25, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.
The Rev. Gerhard Brase conducted the services. Organist was Alan Sensor, accompanying congregational singing. Burial was at the church cemetery with Sensor-French Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Clifford Vine, Marvin Hovden, Herbert Halverson, Roger Roed, Alvin Gipp, and George Smith.
Edwin Roed was born Sept. 15, 1911 in Canoe Township, the son of Edward and Matilda (Johnson) Roed. He attended rural schools and married the former Edna Sharp on May 28, 1940. Two children were born to this union.
Survivors include a son, Edward of Washburn, Iowa; a daughter, Elaine Thompson of Decorah; five grandchildren; two brothers, Knute of Spring Grove, Minn., and Bjarne of Postville; and two sisters, Olga Halverson of Decorah and Harriett Ackerman of Waterloo.
Mr. Roed was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church and the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Decorah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Harry, and one sister, Hilma.
