Earl L. Erickson of Decorah died Thursday, Jan. 14 at the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse at the age of 73.

Funeral services for Mr. Erickson were held Saturday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Gerhard Brase officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Bjerke, Steven Bjerke, David Bjerke, Brian Bjerke, Eric Bjerke, Mark Erickson, Thomas Hovey, Bruce Hovey and Dennis Hovey.

Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Hovey, Ingvold A. Hovey, Carl Myrah, Ingvald A. Myrah, James E. Roney and Carleton Selness.

Mrs. Donald Lundtvedt was organist and accompanied congregational singing. Arrangements were made by Steine Funeral Home.

Earl L. Erickson was born Jan. 18, 1908 in Decorah and had farmed all his life in Winneshiek County. His parents were Olias and Clara (Iverson) Erickson.

He attended rural schools, and on March 14, 1929 he married Lenna Young in ceremonies at Decorah Lutheran Parsonage.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Marland Bjerke of Spring Grove, Minn. and Mrs. Walter Hovey, Decorah; a son, Roger Erickson of Marian, Ia., 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Lester and Maurice Erickson, both of Decorah and Robert Erickson of Marian, Ia. and four sisters, Mrs. Clem Frye, Mrs. Ernest Winger and Mrs. Alice Tollefson, all of Decorah and Mrs. Howard Hahn of Solvang, Calif.

Mr. Erickson belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church where he was a deacon, a member of the church council and served as vice president of the congregation.
