Elgin Echo, Thursday, 8 August 1918.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stee who live close to the Milwaukee track between Ossian and Castalia, lost their little eighteen-months-old son last Saturday. The child got out on the track and while playing there was killed by a westbound freight. The engineer saw him from a distance but thought it was a piece of paper.
