Margorie Nell Kennard Hanson passed on to eternal life Dec. 7, 2013.
"Marge" was a long-time resident of Sun City Center, Raleigh, N.C., and Ames. She was born in Decorah May 13, 1917, and attended grammar and high school in Decorah. In 1937, Marge married Durwin Melford Hanson. After war service the couple lived in Ames from 1946 to 1960, where Marge owned and managed Town and Campus Dress Shop while her husband taught at Iowa State University. The couple lived in Raleigh, N.C. from 1960 to 1980, where her husband taught at North Carolina State University. The couple retired to Sun City Center, Fla. in 1980. Marge's hobbies included sewing, crocheting, bridge and reading.
Marge is survived by five nieces and nephews and their spouses: David and Ann Hagge of Port Charlotte, Fla., Nancy and Richard Woodley of Dike, John and Judy Hagge of Laporte, Minn., Mary and Randy Ketelsen of Bemidji, Minn., Tina and Steve Pace of Cedar Rapids and dear friend and nephew-in-law, Jerry Ludwig, of Sun City Center, Fla.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Durwin, and her two sisters Vera Kennard Hagge and Vernelle Kennard Knowlton.
