Abraham S. Riggs was born in Madison Co., Ind., May 7, 1830. On Oct. 11, 1849, he was married to Miss Mary Lambert. To them were born four children, two girls and two boys. The older son died early if life, being but little past three years. The other three remain with the widow to mourn the loss of a kind father and loving husband. He moved from Indiana to Iowa in 1856, settling on the farm that he at present owned. Unable to longer look after the duties of the farm 28 years ago he moved his family to Castalia, where he has since lived and died. For 25 years he has been limited to his own home, except for very short distances and at great suffering to himself. The welcome messenger, death, came Tuesday morning, Nov. 10. The funeral was held from the U.B. church Thursday afternoon.
