Mary Throndson, area resident, dies
Mary O. Throndson, Decorah, died suddenly Sunday, June 22 at the Winneshiek Memorial Hospital. She was 76.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 25 at 11 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Pastor Hovda officiated the services and organist Mrs. Otto Ruen accompanied the congregation in singing "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name" and "My Hope is Built on Nothing Less."
Burial was at Union Prairie Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Melvin Dotseth, Orvin Hotvedt, Lester Sorenson, Maynard Hotvedt, Vernon Spilde and Lloyd Hanson. Olson-Fjestul Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Throndson was born Mary Hotvedt on March 15, 1904 in Glenwood Township to Anne and Ole Hotvedt. She attended rural schools of Winneshiek County and was married to Alex Throndson in Decorah in 1935. He died in 1973. Mrs. Throndson lived in Decorah and was a member of Decorah Lutheran ALCW.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Forde of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard Sorenson, Decorah and Helga Hotvedt of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Truman, in 1969 and two brothers.
