Alex Throndson Retired Decorah Farmer, Dies
Alex Throndson, retired Decorah area farmer, died Friday, Oct. 12 at his home in the Rosendahl Addition. He was 83. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 15 at Decorah Lutheran Church with burial in the Union Prairie Cemetery.
Pastor Alden Hovda conducted final rites for Mr. Throndson. Pallbearers were George Ness, Lawrence Ruen, Sylvan Hanson, Paul Neste, David Frana and Robert Haugen. Mrs. Otto Ruen was organist, and funeral arrangements were made by Olson-Fjelstul Funeral Home.
A native of Madison Township, Mr. Throndson taught school for two years and had worked in a bank in North Dakota for two years before returning to Winneshiek County where he farmed. He was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church here and had served on the Board of Deacons.
Mr. Throndson was born December 16, 1889. He attended rural schools and Valders Business College.
He was married April 1935 in Glenwood Township to the former Mary Hotvedt and is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Forde of Cedar Rapids, Ia. and six granchildren.
A son, Truman Throndson, who died in 1969 and his parents preceded him in death.
