Rhoda A. Cook was born in Ripley county, Indiana, August 13, 1838. At the age of four years she with her parents moved to Rock county, Wisconsin, where they lived eleven years. Thence removing to West Union, Iowa, which was her home until her marriage to Abram Lambert, October 21, 1858, when she came to the farm in Winneshiek county, which was her home for almost sixty-five years, and where she passed away April 14, 1923, aged eighty-four years, four months and one day.

To this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. The husband and father passed away April 5, 1917.

She is survived by the following children: Wilber of Castalia, Iowa; Owen of Samoa, Calif.; and Vina and May at home. Also five grandchildren.

In early life she was converted and joined the church of her choice, remaining faithful until the day of her death. Her unfaltering trust in her Savior was a source of great comfort to her in her declining years.

The funeral was held from the M.E. church in Castalia at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, April 17th, conducted by Rev. S. J. Francis of Castalia. Interment in Pleasant View cemetery.
