Leona B. Roher peacefully passed away while surrounded by loved ones at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the age of 93.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Decorah Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be a later date in Springwater Cemetery in rural Decorah.

Visitation begins on Saturday at 10:00 A.M., one hour before services, at the church.

Leona Beatrice Erickson Roher was born May 18, 1919 in rural Decorah to Marie (Sorenson) and Oscar Erickson. She was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church. She attended a rural Decorah school. On November 24, 1940, Leona married Milo Robert Roher at Decorah Lutheran Church. Their union brought forth 4 children – Maxine, David, Dale and Richard.

During her career, Leona worked at Decorah Laundries and Cleaners, Springer Hotel, The Barb, Luther College Food Service, and Ronnie’s Café. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Leona enjoyed spending time with her family, joining them on many family vacations and visits; she never met a baby she didn’t want to hold; and had a wonderful sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings and their spouses: brothers Chet (Elsie) Erickson, Arthur (Evelyn) Erickson, Harold (Mary) Erickson, Merlin Erickson and sisters Vivian (Grant) Barth and Edith (Robert) Hjelmeland all of Decorah, and brother Wallace Erickson of Florida. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Roher on August 22, 1991; toddler grandson Anthony, and twin infant granddaughters Dawn and Donna.

She is survived by sister’s-in-law Juanita (Lewis) Slauson of Strawberry Point, IA and Margie Erickson of Florida; daughter Maxine (Norman) Quam of Decorah, sons Dale (Sharon) Roher of Decorah and Richard (Brenda) Roher of Kewaskum, WI; daughter-in-law Julie (Herb) Stufflebeam of Marion, IA; 16 grandchildren: Debbie (Terry) Barger, Kathy (David) Cotant, Glenn (Lori) Spalding, Carl (Rhonda) Bergan, Charlene (Wade) Beavers, Kevin (Fonoko) Barnett, Chris Roher, Lori (Tom) FitzPatrick, Dan H. (Kelly) Roher, Andrea (Brett) Koranda, PaulDean Roher, Tina (Greg) Malone, Patti (Gus) Kuester, Tami Roher, LaTisha (Scott) Leitheiser, and Dan R. Roher; 34 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
