Margaret Flatland, 60, of Cresco, died June 6, 2003 at the Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco with Rev. Allen Hermeier officiating.

Soloist Don Davis performed "Beyond the Sunset" and "On Eagle’s Wings."

Hymn selections included "Beautiful Savior" and "Amazing Grace."

Casketbearers were Kenneth Flatland, Paul Tegtmeier, Ed Fontes, Todd Krogstad, Charles Rohm and Gregory Gossman.

Internment was in the Freemont Cemetery. Lindstrom Funeral Home of Cresco handled arrangements.

Margaret Bertha Flatland was born Sept. 6, 1942 in Cresco, the daughter of William and Ida (Bigalk) Drake.

She attended school in Cresco and for the last 22 years had worked at Luther College in the Oneota Coffee Shop.

She was united in marriage to Jesse Flatland Sept. 25, 1965, and to the union three children were born: Denise, Dean and Dawn.

She was well known by the students and staff at Luther College, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children: Denise (Jeff) Rohm of Coralville; Dean (Shana) Flatland of Hampshire, Ill., and Dawn (Rick) Meckenburg of Cresco; 11 grandchildren and by brother Gerald Drake of Cresco.

Margaret Bertha Flatland was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Drake; her husband, Jesse Flatland; her brother, Lester Drake and by two grandsons.
