Orville Hovey, Orleans Township Farmer, Dies

Funeral services for Orville Hovey, who died in the Cresco Hospital, December 28, were held December 31 in the Orleans Lutheran Church, rural Ridgeway, Pastors Thalacker and Hjelle officiated. Mrs. Elmer Gerber was organist, and soloist was Pastor Hjelle.

Casket bearers were Elmer Gerber, Harlan Hovey, Maynard Hovey, Earl Kern, Vernon Spilde and Casemir Zdun.

Orville Hovey, the son of Peter and Minnie Hanson Hovey, was born in Orleans Township on January 17, 1896.

He was united in marriage with Bertha Scott October 12, 1920. They established their home on the farm in Orleans township where they remained until retiring to Cresco in December 1964.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sylvia, Mrs. Orland Quandahl, of rural Cresco; nine grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Fern Kern of Decorah and Mrs. Charlotte Scott of Prosper, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bernice, Mrs. Elmer Linderbaum who died in 1968; a brother Philip and a sister Gladys, Mrs. Anton Ask.
