Kenny Flatland age 78 of Cresco, IA died Sunday, Jan 06, 2013, at Regional Health Services in Cresco. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan 9, at 11:00 am at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Spring Grove, MN with Pastor David Allen officiating. Following the luncheon interment with Military Rites will be at Fremont Cemetery, rural Harmony, MN. Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.

Kenneth M. Flatland was born January 1, 1935 at Highlandville, IA to H. Albert and Norma H. (Engen) Flatland. He graduated from Canton High School in 1953, that fall he entered the Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. Kenny married Wanda K. Barnhouse on June 1, 1958 at the Fremont Lutheran Church, rural Harmony, MN.

Kenny farmed in Winneshiek County his entire life. Along with farming Kenny worked at Donaldson’s prior to maintaining a dairy herd for 17 years, which was followed by working at Featherlite for 10 years. For Featherlite he delivered trailers throughout the United States and Canada. He enjoyed television and for over 30 years Kenny was on a Bowling League. He was an avid book reader; especially detective stories and mysteries. Kenny enjoyed driving a 1941 Chevy pickup restored by his son Randy. Kenny and Wanda traveled to visit family in Virginia, Texas, Colorado, Florida and to Hawaii.

Kenny is survived by his wife Wanda of Cresco; 4 children, Rebecca (Bret) McCleary and children Rachel and Hannah all of Houston, TX, Kathleen Hatfield and daughter Violet of Cresco, Randall (Annita) Flatland and children Avery, Jameson, Whitney and Eston all of Decorah, Steven (Sonya) Flatland and children Cole, Sadie, Logan and Megan all of Springville, IA; 4 sisters, Naomi Gossman of Cresco, Eldie (Alton) Peterson of Cresco, Bonnie Krogstad of Spring Grove, MN, and Susie (Ed) Fontes of Cresco. Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law Jesse and Margaret Flatland and 2 brothers-in-law, Herbert Gossman and Mervin Krogstad

Honorary casketbearers are Alan and Donald Bretisprecher, Dave and Pete DeVries, Leland Hovey, Mike Lace, Mark Jones and Larry Welch. Casketbearers are Dean Flatland, Dan, Pat and Tom Gossman, Brian and Jerry Sandeen.

Visitation:
4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 Cresco Iowa location

Service:
11:00 am on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 Calvary Evangelical Free Church, located a 1/2 mile west of Spring Grove on the northside of Hiway 44.
