Elaine Flatland Rasmussen, 72, formerly of Decorah and Mabel, Minn., died suddenly at her home Oct. 24, 2006.

A memorial service was held Friday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Michaels's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Minn., with Pastor Christopher Dodge officiating.

She was born April 3, 1934, in Winneshiek County, and was baptized at Glenwood Lutheran Church and confirmed at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.

She graduated from Mabel High School and married Howard Rasmussen at Mabel First Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Howard; her children, Hope (Mark) Barron, Joy (Tom) Dixon and Dan (RaVon) Rasmussen; 10 grandchildren; her brothers, Curtis (Faye) of California and Russell (Bev) Flatland of Arizona; a sister, Bonnie Cuff of Maple Plain, Minn.; her in-laws, Virginia (Aulden) Winch, Doris Keller and Robert (Jody) Rasmussen; and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
