Funeral services are today for Anna Sampson, 81

Anna Sampson, a life-long resident of Winneshiek County and Decorah, died Feb. 18 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be today (Tuesday, Feb. 20) at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul H. Christenson officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Verdel Dawson, Michael Adams, Richard Roher, Reginald Sampson. Dr. Bruce Sampson and Gregg Sampson. Mrs. William Kuhlman is organist for the services and Mrs. Melbourne Faldet will sing. Arrangements are being made by Steine Funeral Home.

As Anna Anderson, Mrs. Sampson was born July 2, 1897 in Winneshiek County where she attended rural schools. Her parents were Bendick and Inez Anderson. She was married to Maurice Sampson Aug. 23, 1918 and the couple farmed in the county until moving to Decorah. Mr. Sampson died Aug. 3, 1971.

Mrs. Sampson is survived by four sons, Weston Sampson of Lynxville, Wis., Gavin Sampson and Lester Sampson, both of Decorah and Durwin Sampson of Evansville, Ind.; seven grandchilden; nine great grandchildren and three sisters, Mayme Ames, Viroqua, Wis., Bertha Musser, Delhi, Ia. and Esther Graves, Diamond Bar, Calif.

She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers, and two sisters, as well as her husband.
