Mary Ellen Rustad

Mary Ellen Rustad, 64, of Decorah, died Thursday, March 17, 1994, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church, with the Revs. James M. Glesne and John V. Halvorson officiating. Organist was Dianne Kvamme.

Casket bearers were Duane Harvey, Donald Harvey, Randy Darling, Dean Darling, Phillip Rustad and Steve Holkesvik. Honorary casket bearers were Diane Anderson, Joan Sloan, Nancy Gilson, Doris Whalen, Gail Keefe, Barb Bryant and Barb Buckton.

Burial was at the Washington Prairie Cemetery. The French-Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mary Ellen Harvey was born Aug. 26, 1929, at Bluffton, the daughter of Harry and Mrytle (Greenslade) Harvey. She was baptized into the Christian faith.

She attended grade schools in Winneshiek County and graduated from Cresco High School.

On Sept. 14, 1952, she married Otis Abraham Rustad at St. John's Lutheran Church in Locust. Mary worked at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1991.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathie and Kristie, both of Decorah, and Wendy of Council Bluffs; two sons, Gary and Bev. Rustad, and Ronald Rustad, of Decorah; two grandchildren, Alex and Paige of Decorah; two brothers, Warren and Inez Harvey of Cresco and Clyde and Rose Mary Harvey of Oxford, Wis.; two sisters, Pearl and Kenneth Darling of Burr Oak and Wilma (Mrs. Gerald) Thorson of Austin, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Gen (Mrs. Fay) Harvey of Mabel,; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis; brothers Roy and Fay Harvey; and sisters Florence Baker and Lila Darling.
