Bertha Stoskopf Funeral Services Held at Big Canoe

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Stoskopf, 97, long-time county resident, were held Friday, March 21, at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Emil Martinson conducted the services.

Mrs. Stoskopf died March 18 at the Decorah Retirement Center.

Pallbearers for her funeral were Wallace Nordheim, William Wilkens, Walter Knight,
(?)lmer Helgeson, Harvey Olson, and Delford Fossum.

Hymns were sung by the congregation accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Orville Iverson.

Steine Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stoskopf was born Jan. 7, 1872 in Norway, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Anderson. The family moved to Pleasant Township in Winneshiek County, when Mrs. Stoskopf was seven years old. She attended rural schools.

She was married Sept. 6, 1893, in Locust to John Stoskopf.

Mr. and Mrs. Stoskopf farmed in Pleasant Township until Mr. Stoskopf's death in 1933. Mrs. Stoskopf moved to Decorah in 1934.

She is survived by one son, Clarence Stoskopf, of Pleasant Township, and a brother, Sam Anderson, of La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four brothers.

Mrs. Stoskopf was a member of Big Canoe Lutheran Church.
