Myles Rommes, age 76, of Spillville, Iowa, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2013, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, Iowa, and also 9:30 a.m., at the church on Saturday morning. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m., and a scripture service at 4:30 p.m., on Friday afternoon.

Myles Francis Rommes was born on September 11, 1936, the son of Vic and Gilma (Ostern) Rommes in Caledonia, Minnesota. Myles attended Caledonia High School and served in the United States Army, spending time in Korea. He was united in marriage to Elaine Fisher on March 7, 1970, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. Myles worked at Deco Products in Decorah for many years. Myles enjoyed doing puzzles and going to the Boat. He was an avid Twins and Viking fan, but above all he loved his two grandchildren, Jordan and Kaylie.

Myles is survived by his son: Jeff (Cortney Kerner) Rommes, Calmar, IA. Two grandchildren: Jordan and Kaylie. Three brothers: Kenneth (Janice) Rommes, Caledonia, MN, Gary (Kathy) Rommes, Onalaska, WI, and Allan (Melody) Rommes, LaCrosse WI. Two sisters: Muriel (David) Sanders, Hesper, IA, and Geraldine (Sam) Shaffer, Janesville, WI. Sisters-in-law: Mildred Pecinovsky, Cresco, IA, Delores (Ralph) Pecinovsky, Protivin, IA, Dorothy Vrba, Protivin, IA, and Peggy (Gene) Reicks, Spillville, IA. One brother-in-law: Jimmy (Joan) Fisher, Spillville, IA.

Myles was preceded in death by his parents: Vic and Gilma (Ostern) Rommes. His wife: Elaine Rommes on May 22, 2011. Two brothers-in-law: Joseph Pecinovsky and Alton Vrba.
