Elsie Severson, Decorah native dies in Oregon
Elsie K. Severson of 1148 S. Water St., Silverton, Ore., and a Decorah native died Feb. 21, 1979 at Mt. Angel, Ore. at a local nursing home.
Elsie Severson was born Feb. 10 1892 at Decorah. She attended Valders College at Decorah and taught in schools here until her marriage at which time she and her husband moved to Beach, N.D.. Then in 1950 they moved to Portland, Ore. and in 1951 to Silverton, Ore.
She is survived by sons, Raymond Severson of Salem,Ore. and Robert Severson of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Viola Groendyke of Deland, Fla.; a sister, Ida Boe of Silverton; two brothers, Ingvald Myrah and Carl Myrah, both of Decorah; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton, Ore. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery there.
Mrs. Severson was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Silverton and also belonged to the Golden Age Club and the Ruth Circle.
