Lester Myrah, 62, Decorah native, dies in California
Word has been received by Decorah relatives of the death of Lester Vernon Myrah, a Decorah native. Mr. Myrah died Dec. 21 at Dredgerville, Calif. at the age of 62.
He was born to Clarence and Anna Myrah in Decorah May 23, 1918 and grew up here.
During World War II, he served in the United States Air Force as a warrant officer and retired after 22 years service.
He married Bertha Watkins of Bussey, Ia. in California in 1940 and is survived by his wife, one son, four daughters and five granchildren.
Other survivors are his stepmother, Clara Myrah of Decorah, uncles, Ingvald and Carl Myrah, both of Decorah and two aunts, Mrs. Ernest Vine of Decorah and Ida Boe of Silverton, Ore.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Dec. 27. Mr. Myrah had willed his body to science.
