Johanna M. Myrah

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church for Johanna M. Myrah, 76, of Decorah. Mrs. Myrah died November 29, 1989 at Aase Haugen Home following a long illness.

The Rev. Glenn Kappelmann conducted final rites, and French and Balik Funeral Home made arrangements. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Blegen, John Lillegraven, Truman Myrah, Jerry Berge, Douglas Blegen and Mike Quandahl. Katie Zuehlsdorf was organist.

Mrs. Myrah had lived in the Decorah area all of her life. She had been employed at Woldum Produce for many years and had operated a rooming house and thrift shop. She was secretary at her husband's feed mill and also sold seed corn.

Johanna M. Myrah was born Johanna Blegen in rural Decorah to Andrew O. and Nettie Musser Blegen. Her early education was received in country schools and she attended Decorah High School.

She married Carl Myrah September 2, 1952 at Burlington, Ia.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Julian Quandahl of Westland, Mich.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur Blegen and Nathan "Dutch" Blegen, both of Decorah and Norris Blegen of Marion, Ia.; and three sisters, Louise Gabtielson of Decorah, Clara Bolson of Madison, Wis. and Emma Hagen Roscommon, Mich. Her parents preceded her in death.

Mrs. Myrah was a member of First Lutheran Church.
