Carrie Unice Brown was born July 3, 1852, at LaPorte, Indiana, and died at Postville, Iowa, December 3, 1931.
She was the only girl of a family of four children. two boys were older and one younger. With her parents she came to Iowa in 1854 and settled in Bloomfield township, Winneshiek county, where she resided until the death of her parents, her father passing in 1862 and her mother in 1865. She then went to Wisconsin, where she lived with relatives for two years.
Returning to Iowa she was united in marriage to Moses A. Bollman, March 24, 1873, and resided in Bloomfield township until the death of Mr. Bollman in 1909. She then moved to Postville, where she resided until her death.
She leaves to mourn her passing one brother, C. W. Brown of Colville, Wash.; three step-children, Mrs. A. L. McMaster of Englewood, Colo.; W. E. Bollman of Decorah; and Mrs. E. W. Green of Castalia; eight children, F. E. Bollman of Caldwell, Idaho; T. P. Bollman of Basin, Wyoming; Mrs. H. W. Houghland of Republic, Wash.; T. L. Bollman of Caldwell, Idaho; F. S. Bollman of Notus, Idaho; Mrs. B. W. Post of Notus, Idaho; V. G. Bollman of Castalia; and E. O. Bollman of Corning. There are also 39 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
She has left with each a sweet remembrance of a life of service well and willingly rendered in the name of Christ - a great and wonderful heritage.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the Community Presbyterian church in this city, Rev. R. F. Galloway officiating. Interment in the family plot in Pleasant View cemetery, Castalia.
