Charles H. Beebe

Charles Henry Beebe, fourth child of Edwin and Margaret Beebe was born on January 17, 1867 in Fairbank, Iowa, where his Childhood and youth were spent. He moved with his parents to Winneshiek county about 58 years ago. Later he moved back to Oelwein to care for his parents. His beautiful devotion to his mother thru declining years were most commendable. After his parents death, he moved back to Winneshiek county, purchasing a home at Frankville, where he lived until his passing on February 22, 1938.

Charley was variously employed thru the years, a hard working man, who could be trusted do every task faithfully.

Two brothers and three sisters, beside his parents have preceeded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, one sister, Mrs. Jane Reed of Oelwein, Iowa; four brothers, Morris of Oelwein, Will and Ira of Waterloo, Romeo of Miami, Florida. He also leaves ten nieces, and ten nephews. One of the latter, Rollin Bellmar of Oelwein, Ia., was cared for by him from an infancy of three months. He is also mourned by many relatives and a host of friends and neighbors.

As a boy he united with the Methodist Church of Freeport, Iowa, and in his last illness found comfort in the Christian’s hope.

Services were held at the Methodist church February 25th, the Rev. F.C. Witzigman officiating. Mrs. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. James Deyo sang “Going Down the Valley” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Mrs.Tait, organist. Interment was made in family lot in Fairbank cemetery.
