Postville Review, Fri., 17 Feb. 1911. (condensed).
Grace May Spahr, the daughter of J. H. and Sara Sphar, was born March 18, 1887, near Castalia, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was joined in marriage to Allen Green, January 1, 1907, and died very suddenly of hemorrhages at her home four miles northeast of Castalia, Feb. 7, 1911, aged 23 years, 10 months and 20 days. To this union two children were born, Clarence, aged 2 1/2 years, and little Ruth, aged 3 months. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, two children, her mother, one brother, two sisters and a host of friends. Grace was a kind and loving daughter, sister, wife and mother, always living in the loving care of her Heavenly Father and trying to do what she thought was right at all times.
The funeral was held in the United Brethren church Thursday, Feb. 9, 1911, the Rev. C. A. Weaver officiating.

Source: Decorah Republican Feb. 9, 1911, P7 C3This community was terribly shocked this (Tuesday) morning to learn that Mrs. S. A. Green had suddenly died at her home north of here. She rose in her usual health and after breakfast went up stairs to comb her hair and look after the children. She had but partly attended to her duties when she laid down on the bed. It is supposed she had strength to reach the bed, after she felt the shock. Shortly after, the husband went to see why she did not return and was horrified to find her in an unconscious state. He carried her down stairs and summoned medical aid, but she passed away about ten minutes after she was brought down stairs. The funeral will occur Thursday afternoon. It is certainly a very sad occurrence, passing away so young leaving two small children, a sorrowing husband and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The cause of death is supposed to be the bursting of a blood vessel. Obituary next week.

She was of a kind, cheerful and pleasant disposition, always with a kind and pleasant word and helping hand for all. The funeral sermon was held in the United Brethren church Thursday, Feb. 9, 1911, the Rev. C. A. Weaver officiating.
