Postville Review, Fri., 17 Feb. 1911.

After a long illness of thirteen weeks duration Mrs. Mary Huntley Perry McMartin died at her home in Castalia at two o'clock Friday afternoon, Feb. 10, 1911. She had suffered three strokes of paralysis, the third proving fatal. She was born August 19, 1833, in Ames, Montgomery county, New York, being the fourth daughter of Elijah and Polly Huntley. She and her parents came west in the early forties. She was married Sept. 8, 1854, to Samuel Perry, and to this union was born one son, F. E. Perry. Mr. Perry died about two years after his marriage, being caught in a threshing machine, causing almost instant death. She was again married Nov. 19, 1866, to Duncan McMartin, of Castalia, Winneshiek county, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. McMartin resided in this community for over forty years, he passing away Nov. 11, 1909. Since that time she and her son Frank have lived at her home. Her age was 77 years, 5 months and 24 days. She leaves to mourn her death one son, a brother, M. C. Huntley, of Fontana; a sister, Martha Pressey, of California; and a host of sympathizing friends. Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Huntley were with her to the end.

The funeral service took place in the United Brethren church at Castalia, the pastor, Rev. C. A. Weaver, officiating. The D. of H. lodge, of which she was a member, was in attendance. The funeral was largely attended and the remains laid to rest in the Bloomfield cemetery.
