Dean Twedt

Dean Twedt of Blairsville, Ga., went to heaven Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011. A memorial service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church Family Life Building Fund. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Dean was born March 27, 1943, son of the late Henry and Alice Twedt. After graduating from Calmar High School, Calmar, he attended and graduated from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, Minn., University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, La Crosse, Wis. and Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, with a degree as M.T. (ASCP). Dean married Ruth Lederer Dec. 26, 1965, in West Bloomfield, Wis., sharing 45 years together.

After working at Sartori Hospital, Cedar Falls, for several years he joined Coulter Electronics as a salesman of medical equipment. He was transferred to the home office of Coulter Electronics, Hialeah, Fla., where he was manager of the FDA testing laboratory for Coulter hematology instrumentation at Miami University Hospital. During his years at Coulter, he was granted a U. S. and Canadian patent in statistics. He retired in Blairsville, Ga., in 1998, where he was a real estate broker at Louise McTaggart and Associates, Inc. He also taught real estate and real estate law at North Georgia Technical College. Dean was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served for many years as the official photographer. Dean will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Dean is survived by his wife, Ruth, Blairsville; brother, Kelly Foss of Amarillo, Texas; cousin Connie (Erv) Glock of Calmar; brother-in-law, Ken (Lynn Kolbe) Lederer of Appleton, Wis.; mother-in-law, Mary Lederer of Appleton, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
