Lois (Turner) Rosenthal

Lois (Turner) Rosenthal passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, in hospice care at DeLand, Fla. Interment is private at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. A memorial service is at the Quasqueton Union Church Memorial Day, May 28, 2012.

Lois was born March 23, 1921, in Sumner, to Ella (Scherrer) and Edward Turner. Lois graduated from Quasqueton High School, where she lettered in softball and basketball. Lois worked for several years with the Edw. A. Boss Hotels in Independence, Oelwein, Decorah and Waterloo.

She was married in 1951 to Robert C. Rosenthal at Decorah and maintained a residence there, owning and operating a Mode-O-Day Shoppe. Mr. Rosenthal operated the family grocery business.

Lois was hostess and/or bookkeeper at some of the country clubs her husband managed – Freeport, Ill. Country Club, St. Charles, Ill. Country Club, Ridgemore Country Club, Chicago, Ill, and Knollwood Country Club, Lake Bluff, Ill. Lois and Bob retired to DeBary, Fla. in 1980. Lois loved family, golf and her Iowa Hawkeyes.

Lois, one of seven, is survived by Chas. (Bernita) Turner of Sandwich, Ill. and Phillip (Arlene) Turner of Clinton.

She also was a beloved aunt to 21 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings Josephine (Lorenz) Mahnke of Waterloo, Francis (Catherine) Turner of Monticello, Joy (Shirley) Turner of Waterloo and Geraldine (Marlin) Sullivan of Decorah; her husband, Robert, in 1988.
