Joseph Slebiska

Funeral services for Jos. Slebiska, 76, who passed away at his home here early Thursday morning, following an illness of several months were held here Saturday morning at 9:30 o’clock at the home and St. Wenceslaus Catholic church, with the Rev. Alphons Biskup, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. He was born on a farm east of Spillville, March 19, 1868, the son of the late James and Mary Slebiska. Feb. 3, 1891, he was married to Rose Riehle, who with two daughters, Mrs. Helen Graf of Dubuque and Mrs. Gertrude Herold of Cresco, survive. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one brother, Frank Slebiska of Cokato, Minn., and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Woodworth, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Grace Zahasky of Protovin and Mrs. Elizabeth Fleener of St. Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Slebiska spent most of their married life on a farm east of Spillville, retiring about five years ago when they came to Spillville to make their home. Mr. Slebiska was a kind man, who will be greatly missed by his many relatives and friends, and especially by his widow, daughters and grandchildren, who spent much of their time here with him during his last illness and assisted in caring for him.
