Mrs. Lena Owen

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Owen, who passed away at University hospital at Iowa City, at 2:40 o’clock Monday afternoon were held at the Orleans Lutheran church at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. M. B. Quill officiated and interment was in the Orleans cemetery. Pallbearers were John Hovey, Melvin Hovey, Holcer Iverson, Thos. Benson, Herbert Anderson and Edward Hagen.

Mrs. Lena Owen, daughter of the late John and Rande Hellen was born in Orleans twp. on Jan. 1, 1869. Aug. 28, 1895, she was united in marriage to Chris Owen, who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1936. To this union two sons were born, Joseph of Chicago, and Roy of Orleans twp. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Ole Qualley of Warren, Ill., and one grandson Harold Owen. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Owen lived all her life in Winneshiek county and for the past 22 years on the farm in Orleans twp. where she was born, 4 ½ miles north of Ridgeway.
