Joe McCabe

Funeral services were held for Joe McCabe who died at his home Thursday morning, Nov. 21, at St. Agnes church, Plymouth Rock, where Rev. Schares officiated.

Pallbearers were Jas. Henry, Thos. McCabe, John Daley, Mike McCabe, Joe Armstrong and O. H. Anderson.

Mr. McCabe was born Jan. 25, 1880, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Terrence McCabe of Plymouth Rock.

Jan. 28, 1903, he was united in marriage to Nora Greenslade of Bluffton. Eight children were born to this union, all of which survive: Richard, of Harmony; Mrs. LaVerne Swain (Bertina); Mrs. Rudy Kasten (Luella); Mrs. Jack Kelley (Nellie); all of Elgin, Ill.; Joseph and Leonard of Cresco; Mrs. Paul Hanlon (Gayle) of Dubuque, and Clifford, at home.

Besides his wife and children, he is survived by five sisters and four brothers and 21 grandchildren.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Swain and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Kasten of Elgin, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hanlon of Dubuque; Rupert Greenslade of Charles City; Mrs. Nellie O’Brien and Mr. and Mrs. Harry McCabe and daughters Shirley and Leone of Rochester, Minn.

One daughter, Mrs. Jack Kelley, was unable to attend the funeral because of her son’s illness.
