Joseph M. Huber

The many relatives and friends of Joseph Huber were grieved to learn of his death Wednesday, April 12, at Decorah hospital, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. John’s Catholic church in Fort Atkinson with the Rev. Cycle conducting the funeral service. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus cemetery in Spillville. Mr. Huber was born Jan. 12, 1865 near Spillville, the son of John and Magdalyn Huber. In 1892 he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Pechota who preceded him in death in 1926. Mr. and Mrs. Huber have always lived in this community until the death of Mrs. Huber when he retired from farming and went to make his home in Ft. Atkinson with his daughter, Mrs. Ed Rausch. Recently he has also spent a part of his time with another daughter Mrs. Ed Novak in Cresco. The following children survive: Two sons, Jerome in California and Eugene of Ft. Atkinson; five daughters, Mrs. Regina Novak, Cresco; Mrs. Lucille Barnes and Mrs. Grace Thompson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Alice Rausch, Ft. Atkinson, and Mrs. Clara Rausch, Calmar; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Frances Zoulek, Spillville and Mrs. Julia Skoda, Protivin, three brothers, John and George of near Spillville and Frank of Charles City. A son Raymond, three brothers and two sisters have also preceded him in death.
