Funeral services for Ernest W. Knoke, 62, 409 East Water St., were held Friday, Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Mr. Knoke, a retired farmer, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Smith Memorial Hospital, Decorah.

The Rev. Dennis Heifner conducted the services with Steine Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Burial was in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Roy Wicks, Walter Bender, Earl Foltz, Frankie Barth, Galin Barth and Van Butler.

Floral committee members were Mrs. Clyde Quandahl, Mrs. Wallace Christopherson, Mrs. Robert Fisher and Miss Irene Berge.

Mrs. Arlin Fisher was the soloist, and Miss Jan Marie Moen was the organist.

The son of Henry and Caroline Knoke, he was born in Canoe Township April 7, 1903.

He received his education in rural schools.

On March 2, 1927, he was united in marriage with Gladys Ruffridge in the Locust church parsonage.

Mrs. Knoke survives along with two sons, Earl, Canoe Township, and Norman, Clear Lake.

Other survivors include two brothers, Edwin, Burr Oak Township, and Clarence, Canoe Township; and two sisters, Laura Headington, Decorah, and Mrs. Bennie Berg, Glenwood Township.

Six grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Knoke had lived in Canoe Township until moving to Decorah in January, 1951.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Fox and Coon Club and the I.O.O.F.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother..
