John Falada
John Falada, 74, of near Spillville, died suddenly at his home Wednesday evening following a short illness. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at his home and St. Wenceslaus Catholic church, where a requiem mass was offered at 10 o’clock by the Rev. Alphonse Biskup, pastor. Burial was in St. Wenceslaus cemetery.
Mr. Falada was born in Czechoslovakia in 1871, but came to the United States when a young man and settled near Duncan, Ia. After his marriage to Mary Hejlek in Duncan they came to Spillville and their home was made on a farm west of here. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Chas. (Mary) Chapek, Chicago; three sons, John and Charles of near Spillville and S. Sgt. Joseph Falada, serving with the armed forces in Europe, one brother Frank Falada and four grandchildren. Five brothers and a sister have preceded him in death.
