Charles (Chuck) Bronner passed away on Wednesday, October 24 at the age of 79 in Cresco, IA. A mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, October 29, at 11:00 at Notre Dame Parish in Cresco. Internment will be in the Calvary cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday from 3 to 7 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home 404 North Elm St. in Cresco, and also one hour prior to the services at the church. Chuck was born in Bluffton, IA to Claude and Bessie (Falck) Bronner on April 15, 1933. On September 4, 1956 Chuck and Edna (Blong) were married in Cresco, IA. They had 3 children, Alan, Suzanne, and Laurie and 7 Grandchildren. They were the proud grandparents of 6 Grandsons, Benjamin, Jason, Jeff, Scott, Eric, Nick, and then along came their Granddaughter, Sydney. Three years ago , they were blessed with a Great-grandson, Spencer. Chuck worked for the Howard County Road Department for 40 years, starting as a dragline operator and at age 62 he retired as the Shop Forman. He also spent some years as a Sunday milk hauler for Bill Foley, with his children taking turns going along for the ride and early morning time with their Dad. Chuck was a busy man, organizing fishing , hunting, and snowmobiling excursions . Retirement allowed him more time for his favorite pastimes, fishing and gardening in the summer, and turkey and deer hunting in the fall. He could be found out on Al's farm, helping with calves in the Spring, on the combine in the fall, happy to be back out farming as he was in his childhood. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and drove them proudly in the local parades. A daily trip to Sue- Z-Q's for breakfast with the “guys” was a highlight of Chuck's day. Chuck is survived by wife, Edna, Son, Alan Bronner of Cresco, IA, Daughter, Suzanne Kach of Albert Lea, MN, and Grandson Jason Kach of Alden, MN, Daughter, Laurie Musselman and her husband Wayne of Wanamingo, MN and Grandson Jeff Lepa and his wife Deanna and Great-Grandson Spencer of Loxley, AL, Grandson Nick Lepa of North Liberty, IA, and Granddaughter Sydney Klimesh of Wanamingo, MN. Ken Lueschow of Cresco, IA held his place in Chuck's family as “ the other son”. Chuck grew up on the family farm by Davis Corners with one Brother, Robert (Margaret) Bronner of Cresco, and six sisters, Margaret Callahan of Cresco, IA, Doris Heimerdinger of New Hampton, IA, Shirley (Al) Skoda of Cresco, IA, Claudette (George) Cable of Cedar Falls, IA , Joyce Kach of Hiawatha, IA, Bonnie (Jerome) Samec of Manley, IA. He is also survived by brother and sister-in laws, many nieces and nephews, and friends. Three Grandsons preceded Chuck in death, Scott Kach, Eric Bronner, and Benjamin Lepa. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Bessie. Chuck enjoyed living his life in and around the Cresco area and will be fondly remembered by his family and many friends.
