Funeral services for Anton Schmitt, 79, a former Spillville resident who died suddenly at his home in St. Paul Friday, Aug. 26, were held here on Monday morning at 9:30 at the St. Wenceslaus church. The funeral mass was sung by Rev. V. J. Hlubek who also delivered the sermon. Rev. J. P. Broz conducted the service at the graveside. His survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mayme Barnes of St. Paul and Mrs. George (Celia) Mikota of near Spillville; six sons: Charles and Will of St. Paul, Anton of Mason City, Jake of Spillville and Lewis and Andrew of Protivin. The six sons acted as pallbearers and interment was made in the St. Wenceslaus cemetery, beside his wife, who preceded him in death in 1936.
