Edgar Gordon Sanders
Edgar Gordon “Bud” Sanders passed away Monday evening, September 19, 1939 at 6:30 o’clock in the Worrell hospital, Rochester, Minn., due to a severe heart ailment, which had become serious about 15 weeks ago.
“Bud” as everyone knew him had been employed as brakeman on passenger service with the Chicago, Milwaukee Railway for 20 years. A few years ago he was injured while on duty which made it necessary for him to give up active work on the railroad. For the past three years he has been part owner in a retail meat market in Spring Valley, Minn.
He was not only a member of long standing in the Methodist church but he was also a member of Free and Accepted Masons.
He was well liked by all who knew him, and had a host of friends who will miss his pleasant ways. He was a young man of good habits, a kind husband and good father. He will be greatly missed.
Edgar Gordon Sanders, son of J. L. Sanders and Alice Diddams Sanders, was born in Calmar, Iowa, on January 16, 1891, and lived here all his life except for about 18 months in Austin, Minn., and the past three years when he lived in Spring Valley, Minn.
On December 10, 1915, he was united in marriage to Jessie M. Bronner at Austin, Minn. To this union two children were born; Alice Margaret, who is a registered nurse in Rochester, Minn., and Edgar Gordon who died in infancy.
He leaves to mourn his going not only his beloved wife and daughter but his aged father and mother, and one brother Floyd, all of Calmar; two step-children, Mrs. Darrah of Maple Leaf, Iowa, and Wesley Bronner of Minneapolis, Minn., and a host of relatives and friends far too numerous to mention.
Funeral services were held in the Calmar Community church, Friday, September 22, 1939, with burial in the Community Cemetery. Rev. Harry Evans of Spring Valley, officiated. He with his wife sang several beautiful songs during the service.
