Funeral service for Nels Owen, 81, who passed away at his home near here Tuesday were held Friday at 1:30 o’clock at the home and at 2 o’clock at the Madison Lutheran church. The pastor, Rev. M. B. Quill officiated and burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. Pall bearers were Evan K. Hovden, Steen Johnson, Gus Bakken, Anton Dahle, John K. Hovden and Albert Nelson. Mr. Owen was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Helga Owen, born in Norway July 6, 1859. At the age of six years he came to America with his parents, who located in Madison township, where Mr. Owen continued to reside. Aug. 1, 1888, he was united in marriage to Kristi Torgenson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Owen leaves to mourn his departure three sons, Henry of Cresco, Carl of Decorah, Ernest of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Josephine and Christine of Madison township, a brother, Martin of Thief River Falls, Minn., a sister, Mrs. Oscar Hanson of Sisseton, S. D., four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
