Thursday, March 18, occurred the death of Mrs. E. C. Hickey, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Freuchte, at New Albin. Funeral services were held at her home here at 1:30 o’clock and at the Ridgeway Synod Lutheran chapel at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. M. B. Quill assisted by Rev. D. C. Jordahl of Decorah officiated at the services. Interment was at the Ridgeway cemetery. Pall bearers were C. T. Trytten, Albert Koch, John Albertson, Geo. Mrs. Hickey, nee Ellen Ellingson, eldest daughter of Herman and Dorothea Ellingson, was born April 27, 1863, at Capron, Ill. At the age of two years she came with her parents to a farm near Ridgeway where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage to Eugene Hickey at Ridgeway in 1888, and to this union, five children were born, Della (Mrs. O. A. Fosse) who preceded her in death in 1920; Dorothy, (Mrs. Ernest Freuchte) of New Albin; Adele (Mrs. Rudd Hill) of Forest City; Victor, who died in 1914 and Mayme, who died in 1921. Mr. Hickey preceded his wife in death in 1907. Besides the two daughters, Mrs. Hickey is survived by two brothers, John and Edward Ellingson and four sisters, Mrs. Ole Sjobakken, Mrs. Jas. Armstrong, Julia and Belle Ellingson, all of Ridgeway and ten grandchildren. Two brothers, Ole and Eric Ellingson and an infant sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hickey has lived here almost all her life except the last few years when she made her home with her two daughters. She was a kind and loving mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Much sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and host of friends who mourn her departure.
