This community was saddened Sunday morning June 27, when the Angel of Death claimed little Arthur Herold, only son of Mrs. Evelyn Herold east of Spillville. Arthur who was seven years old was stricken several weeks ago with an illness which caused him much suffering, during which time he was tenderly cared for my his mother and sisters, until his spirit leaving its tenement of clay went home to God, where he will pray and plead for those who are left to mourn his early passing. He was a lovable child who brought a great deal of joy into the home where he will be greatly missed. The many friends of the bereaved ones sympathize with them in their hour of deep sorrow. He leaves to mourn his sad taking away, his mother and three sisters: Mrs. Geo. Mikota Jr. (Hattie), Marcella and Hildegard. A sister, Norma and his father, John Herold preceded him in death. Funeral services were held this Tuesday morning at the home and at St. Wenceslaus church where a Mass of the Angels by Rev. V. J. Hlubek, who also delivered the sermon. Burial was made in the St. Clement’s cemetery beside his father and where his sister Norma also is buried. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from Protivin, Cresco, Monona, Festina and Ossian. The beautiful floral offerings were carried by six little girls dressed in white who escorted the flower covered casket to its final resting place.
