Services held Sat. for Taylor, 91

Bernadette Taylor, age 91, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at the Howard County Hospital in Cresco.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21 at the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope, WI. Interment was in the church cemetery. The Rev. George Horath presided. Conway Funeral Home in Cresco was in charge of arrangements.

Bernadette Beatrice Taylor was born on June 12, 1906 in Burr Oak Township, Winneshiek County. She was the daughter of Michael Francis “Frank” and Anatasia (Gossman) McCabe. Bernadette attended the rural school and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School. From there, she trained as a nurse, and worked in Cedar Rapids, Webster City, and Austin, MN as a home health care provider.

On February 14, 1952, she was united in marriage to George Taylor. They made their home near Mt. Hope, WI. George died on December 14, 1988 and Bernadette lived alone until she entered the nursing home.

She is survived by one sister, Helen Doherty of Canton, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

Bernadette was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers: Anthony, Raymond, Leo, and Avitus McCabe, and one sister, Madeline Henry.
