John Schimming services held

Funeral services for John Schimming of rural Canton, MN were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at Assumption Catholic Church with interment in Calvary Cemetery both in Canton. Rev. Steve Peterson officiated. Lindstrom Funeral home handled the arrangements.

John, 68, died Friday, July 20, 2001 at his home.

John G. Schimming was born May 25, 1933 at Decorah the only child of John Joseph and Kathryn (Haberly) Schimming. He graduated from high school and later from college, following that he entered the Navy in 1951.

On May 12, 1955 he married Phyllis Remke in Decorah. He retired from the Navy as a Comdr. In 1973.

John is survived by his wife Phyllis; three sons: Norman of Suffolk, VA, Michael of McHenry, IL, and John of Necedah, WI; and six grandchildren.
